A STEP FORWARD? In the days and years ahead, the parishes of this diocese (and of all dioceses) will need more and more lay people to step into roles of pastoral leadership. Otherwise, parish life as we know it will die, and with it the life and message of Jesus will fade. This would be a tragic loss.

Might you STEP forward? Would you consider it? If so, know that there is a part-time preparation programme due to begin this autumn at Mary Immaculate College, St. Patrick’s Campus, Thurles. A ‘taster’ of it will run for one Saturday per month, over six months. If, at that stage you’re happy with direction of the programme, then you can enter a 2-year part-time programme that reaches Level 6 Certificate. A similar programme was run a few years ago and the 24 graduates are now engaged in part-time parish works (‘ministry’). Details; 0504 20590, or IIPS@mic.ul.ie . Chat with any priest.
