CAHERCONLISH TIDY TOWNS A big thank you to everyone who helped us over the past number of weeks ensuring that the village and environs was clean, tidy and litter free. We would also like to thank everyone for their written, moral and financial support. We have achieved a lot again this year but there is a lot more to be done. We would once again appeal to all residents and businesses to ensure that their areas are clean, tidy and presentable. It is great to see all the painting being completed presently and hopefully others will follow. We are now preparing for the judging in the Limerick Going for Gold competition.

Thank You – Church Gate Collection: Many thanks to all who supported the recent church gate collections in Caherconlish/Caherline in aid of the Munster branches of Down Syndrome Ireland. Parishioners were extremely generous, and your support is truly appreciated. Along with the other funds raised as part of the Tour de Munster, which takes place from 6th to 9th August, 100% of the money raised goes directly towards supporting the vital services provided to children and adults with Down Syndrome across Limerick and the wider Munster region.

A STEP FORWARD? In the days and years ahead, the parishes of this diocese (and of all dioceses) will need more and more lay people to step into roles of pastoral leadership. Otherwise, parish life as we know it will die, and with it the life and message of Jesus will fade. This would be a tragic loss.

Might you STEP forward? Would you consider it? If so, know that there is a part-time preparation programme due to begin this autumn at Mary Immaculate College, St. Patrick’s Campus, Thurles. A ‘taster’ of it will run for one Saturday per month, over six months. If, at that stage you’re happy with direction of the programme, then you can enter a 2-year part-time programme that reaches Level 6 Certificate. A similar programme was run a few years ago and the 24 graduates are now engaged in part-time parish works (‘ministry’). Details; 0504 20590, or IIPS@mic.ul.ie . Chat with any priest. Programmes available from Fr Roy.
