The Community Planning Process Continues

The Community Planning process has now moved on to the action plan and we wait for the draft action plan document to be prepared. The last workshop we worked through the 5 priorities and looked for an organisation or person to lead on them, but this was limited as we hadn't the broad range of stakeholders from the community in the room to avoid leaving everything up to the few. The 5 Areas agreed are Youth Needs, Community Vibrancy and Coordination, Transport and Commuter Travel, Local Amenities and Facilities and Enterprise and Commerce. There is plenty for any of you to get behind. Therefore, if you wish to get involved in any or all the priorities or are an elected/appointed representative of your residential area of Caherconlish or Caherline then contact Mike Walsh on 0851254584 and continue the future planning with other interested and committed residents.

Bookings/Enquiries: Contact Millennium Centre on 061 351141/ 085 288 5181 Email: info@caherconlish.net

Please send notes for the newsletter before 3 pm on Thursday to: info@caherconlish.net

PARISH NOTES

6.30pm Saturday Mass in the Millennium Centre Main Hall. 10.30am Sunday Mass in Caherline

FUTURE SCHEDULE OF MASS TIMES: Last Tuesday week our representatives from the PPC met with representatives from the Ballybricken/Bohermore Parish to discuss new Mass times as required by the new Diocesan guidelines for the combination of parishes. After a discussion, the following was decided. Saturday evening Mass in Caherconlish will remain at the same time of 6.30pm. Saturday evening Mass in Ballybricken will remain at the same time of 7.30pm. Bohermore Sunday morning Mass will change to 9.30am (from 10am). Caherconlish/Caherline Sunday morning Mass will take place in Caherline Church at 10.30am. Along with these changes to Mass times, the Archdiocese is considering that from Easter 2023 Funeral Masses will not take place on a Sunday. What is the view of people on this? It will take a bit of time to get used to this new schedule. Work is progressing well in Caherconlish Church.

FAILTE TO IMOLC/SPRING – ST. BRIGID’S DAY/ Lá Fhéile Bríde, Wednesday 1st February celebrates the arrival of longer, warmer days and saying goodbye to winter. “And the Day Came When the Risk to Remain Tight in a Bud Was More Painful Than the Risk It Took to Blossom.” – Anais Nin.

CELEBRATE ST. BRIGID (Fiery one/ Exalted one) - Patroness of Ireland. Flame of Welcome. Woman of Wisdom. Generous one. With your Cross, protect our homes. Convert our hearts, heal our sick. Herald of Spring, awaken new life. Warm my spirit. Nourish Easter hope. Bountiful Source, multiply God's gifts. Feed the poor. Nurture our hunger. Bless Ireland. Re-kindle the fire. Gather us in faith. Open our doors. Open our hearts. Turn strangers into friends, houses into homes, Sceptics into believers, death into life. Amen. (Fr. Liam G. Ryan O.S.A).

BRIGID is a great Role Model for us of confidence in the providence of God, of kindness, of the creativity of women and of healing – that through her intercession we pray healing for every person on this island and on the face of the earth. We rejoice that this year a holiday in her memory is celebrated.

There will be a general St. Blaise’s Blessing this Friday 3rd 10am Caherline mass (no one to one due to present level of viruses)– ‘through the intercession of St. Blaise, Bishop and martyr, may the Lord deliver us from every ailment of the throat, from the virus and every other evil’.
